VALLE VIVO Brain health within reach
We stand beside neurodivergent people, older adults, families and professionals with practical tools for dementia, cognitive decline and the challenges of neurodevelopment in the Alto Valle.
Every brain follows its own path. We work to dispel the fears that surround ageing and neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer's or Parkinson's, while recognising the specific needs of neurodivergent people as they reach older adulthood. We bring scientific evidence within reach of the community, with warmth and closeness.
Valle Vivo takes root at the confluence of the Limay and Neuquén rivers, drawing on everyday life among the orchards and the vastness of the bardas, the cliffs that frame the valley. The project grows out of the closeness of communities in the Alto Valle, with a deep wish to be a living seed that, learning step by step alongside each neighbour, hopes to widen its embrace gradually towards other corners of Patagonia.
We acknowledge with humility the presence of the Mapuche people and the Gününa küna people (Günün a küna / Mapuche Tehuelche) in the Alto Valle and northern Patagonia, mindful that the wider Patagonian region also holds the memory and presence of the Aonikenk, Selk'nam and Yagán peoples. Guided by the principle of cultural safety, we foster an intercultural dialogue in health that takes in the concept of Küme Mogen (living well, in balance with the community and with nature). Along this path, we hold deep respect for older people as bearers of living memory, building bridges of care founded on attentive listening and mutual respect.
Kiñe piwke, kiñe rakiduamOne heart, one thought.
An ancestral principle reminding us that true health flourishes when understanding and affection walk together, and that no person and no memory is sustained alone.
The presence of the Mapuche people and the Gününa küna people sustains the living memory of the Alto Valle and northern Patagonia.

The river, the bardas and the orchards of the Alto Valle are not only scenery. They are living places that invite calm, movement and the stimulation of the senses. We encourage outdoor experiences that enrich relationships and strengthen brain health at every age.
We are presenting our framework and our community-based research at some of the country's main scientific and training gatherings.
